Bill Title

An act relating to universal license recognition: SB1213

Virginia
Enhanced Military Spouse Licensure Portability
Passed 03/03/2023

Description

The law requires regulatory boards within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation to recognize licenses issued by other states to any person as qualification for Virginia licensure if the other license is in a similar scope of practice, has been held for three years, there are no unresolved complaints against the license, and the individual pays all applicable fees. For service members and spouses, the provisions of Chapter 28 of 2020 still apply, where a service member or spouse shall receive their license within 20 days upon submission of an affidavit stating they hold a license in good standing in another state.
