Ensure Extracurricular Access Final Legislation
A letter of intent is required to be filed with the school district in which a family intends to homeschool. Families may file a letter of intent with any school district in the State. There is no deadline to file this letter and no barrier to homeschooling when a family moves to Colorado, but it must be filed 14 days before the instruction begins.
According to Colorado Revised Statutes § 22-33-104.5(6) and § 22-32-116.5, homeschool students in Colorado can participate in public school extracurricular activities, including JROTC, on an equal basis with public school students and must meet the same eligibility criteria set by the school and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
