Military Clause in State Family Leave Laws Final Legislation
Under Florida law, private employers have the option to purchase voluntary Paid Family Leave insurance to provide paid, job-protected time off for their employees. If your employer chooses to purchase a plan with this coverage, you can access paid leave to manage a "qualifying exigency" arising from your family member’s activation. This paid time off can be used for deployment-related preparations, such as arranging urgent military childcare, making financial or legal preparations, or attending official military events. Because this program is entirely voluntary, you should ask your employer’s HR department if they have purchased a paid family leave policy that includes military exigency coverage.
