This bill enacted the Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact in Indiana.

Indiana joins the Emergency Medical Services Interstate Compact.

Professional counselors licensure compact. Requires the behavioral health and human services licensing board to administer the professional counselors licensure compact (compact). Adopts the compact. Sets forth requirements of a member state. Sets forth the duties and authority of the counseling compact commission (commission). Allows a counselor in a home state to practice via telehealth in a member state. Allows each member state to have one delegate on the commission. Establishes the procedure to withdraw from the compact.

Indiana becomes the 28th State to join the Psychology Compact.

Defines homeschooling as non-public and non-accredited. There is no requirement to register or report to the local school district or state. Parents must keep accurate attendance records (180 days recommended).

Law Implemented SB 189 of 2016. This bill provides that information concerning attendance records and academic progress for a student attending an adult high school who is a member of the military or children in military families must be submitted to the Department of Education (Department) by each school corporation and charter school. The bill provides that the information collected by a school corporation or charter school is considered confidential and shall be collected by the school corporation or charter school under guidelines for maintaining confidentiality established by the Department. The Indiana Department of Education also maintains a dedicated webpage for military families, including information about the Military Student Identifier.

Established Program: The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has a fully established and active Purple Star School designation program, recognizing schools that are committed to supporting military-connected children.
