The Indiana Purple Star School Designation honors schools that have displayed a significant commitment to service members, veterans, and students and families connected to our nation’s military. The Purple Star School Designation is valid for a three-year time period.

Allows private employers to create hiring preference for veterans.

IN HB 1116 creates academic credit for military learning.

Child abuse matters. Requires the department of child services (department) to notify the United States Department of Defense Family Advocacy Program (program) if a child of an active duty member of the military is the subject of a substantiated investigation of abuse or neglect.

The bill updates references throughout the Indiana Code relating to the armed forces of the United States or uniformed services to include the United States Space Force. It changes references relating to military discharges. It makes technical changes to various references relating to the components of the armed forces of the United States.
