In North Carolina, military related issues are coordinated with state agencies through The North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NCMAC). The NCMAC has member requirements stating that the group shall consist of 23 voting members who are appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, nonvoting members, and nonvoting ex officio members as designated in this section. The thirteen (13) members appointed by the Governor including five (5) military retirees representing each military installation, six (6) state residents living within the state who are actively involve with military issues, a NC resident retired from the NC National Guard , and a NC resident who retired from the armed forces reserves. Summary: This body includes members of the military community ensuring unique operational requirements and military family issues are considered across pertinent policy areas.
