SB 623, the Vanessa Gullen Act, amended Art. 7B.002 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure by adding subsection (b), acknowledging military protective orders "(b) For purposes of this article, a military protective order issued to a person because the person was a reported victim of an offense under Section 22.011, 22.012, or 22.021, Penal Code, constitutes sufficient information for a court to find there is a clear and present danger of sexual assault or abuse or other harm to the applicant."

Rule 21d in the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure allows, "Upon appropriate notice by a party or the court, a court may allow or require a participant to appear at a court proceeding by videoconference, teleconference, or other available electronic means, except as otherwise provided in (2)." (2) states, "A court must not require: (A) a party or lawyer to appear electronically for a court proceeding in which oral testimony is heard, absent good cause or the agreement of the parties; or (B) a lawyer, party, or juror to appear electronically for a jury trial, absent the agreement of the parties."
