Concerning home and community-based services programs for dependents of military service members. Children and spouses (dependents) of military service members who have been determined by the DDA to be eligible for developmental disability services retain eligibility so long as they remain legal residents of the state, regardless of whether they left the state due to the\nmilitary member's assignment.

Establishes the Purple Star designation to recognize school districts that demonstrate educational and social-emotional supports to students of military service members.

Allowing nonresident children from military families to enroll in Washington's public schools prior to arrival in the state.

Bill allows for 'in-state tuition' qualification and continuance if military sponsor is transferred out of the state after student's acceptance/admission to institution and before enrollment occurs.

The Office of Military and Veteran Legal Assistance (the Office) is created within the Office of the Attorney General, subject to the availability of amounts appropriated for this specific purpose. The purpose of the Office is to promote and facilitate civil legal assistance programs, pro bono services, and self-help services for military service members, veterans, and their family members domiciled or stationed in Washington.
